Fragmented Memories | Nicola Fabian
Date: until Saturday 30 November 2019
Nicola Fabian’s ‘Fragmented Memories’ is inspired by the landscapes of her native South Africa and her childhood memories of her mother’s ‘jungle’ of a garden.
Arrangements of leaves, flowers and seed pods that remind her of home have been used to translate her memories into tangible objects. Transformed into metal, these cast natural elements are an imperfect and evocative memory of the original form and encapsulate the ephemeral nature of her memories.
Montrose is a town that Nicola has visited many times and finds the coastline and surrounding landscape to be beautiful and inspiring. Nicola plans to select pieces from the ANGUSalive Museum’s natural history collection and exhibit these alongside her work to create a highly appealing and exciting exhibition.
