Update on Sport & Leisure redevelopment plans

09 Jun 2022 | News Story

We announced exciting plans in May to invest £900,000 in our sports centres in Angus and we’re keen to keep our members and the local community up-to-date on progress.

We’re excited to be opening the new-look gym at Brechin Community Campus on Saturday 18 June. We’ve successfully redesigned the gym to maximise floor space, configured an all-encompassing lifting, functional fitness and group training space and installed new state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Our reopening weekend on 18 and 19 June will provide tours of the new gym and a chance for people to join and enjoy the rest of June for free (no pro-rata fee in June with first payment in July). There will also be great prizes up for grabs for current and new members. You can find out more on opening weekend plans by visiting our Brechin gym webpage.

This June Montrose Sports Centre will also benefit from improvements including new state-of-the-art cardio and fixed resistance machines, multi-functional training rig, colour-coded training zones, enhanced audio and visual solutions as well as equipment which syncs to apps and monitors your workout.  In order to make these exciting changes we will need to close the fitness suite at Montrose Sports Centre from Monday 13 June for at least 4 weeks.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused but members will be able to use any of our other gyms from 13 June or the brand-new gym at Brechin Community Campus from 18 June 2022.

Due to supply and contractor delays associated with the more significant structural works to be carried out at Arbroath Sports Centre, we will start the centre’s transformation by making upgrades to the studio in the coming weeks.  Enhancements include a fully refurbished dance studio featuring large screen and fitbox, enabling virtual classes; state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology, refreshed décor and new air conditioning units.  We will return to Arbroath later in the year to progress the more significant changes to the gym and fitness suite.

Carnoustie Sports Centre will benefit from upgraded kit from 14 June including treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, AMTs (adaptive motion trainers) and fixed resistance machines. We’ll share more updates on plans for Carnoustie Sports Centre and our other venues as soon as we can.
