Free Swimming in Angus on offer as part of April Holiday Programme
Children, young people and families in Angus will be jumping for joy this Easter with a fun-filled programme of activities from ANGUSalive.
The exciting holiday schedule includes adventure, craft, movies, sport, wildlife and water sport activities.
Thanks to funding from Angus Council, free swimming sessions will also be available to all school age children in Angus throughout the Easter break. This free offer is available for lane, family and inflatable swim sessions.
Ross Smith, Acting Adult and Community Physical Activity Lead with ANGUSalive said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to offer junior and family activities as well as free swimming with support from Angus Council this Easter. Our varied programme ensures we have something to appeal to all interests, as well as activities for specific disability and inclusion groups.”
For children who are absolute beginners to swimming, crash course swimming lessons are available to help build confidence and improve water skills. Other sporting activities include Gymnastics, Trampoline, Rugby, Cricket and Football Camps.
There will be Movies at The Webster Memorial Theatre where adults will be able to enjoy the 1948 glorious technicolor ‘Easter Parade’. Grown-ups and little ones can look forward to the fur-filled family comedy ‘The Dog who saved Easter’. Drop-in family fun sessions will be available at all museums in Angus where visitors can find out about the Picts at the Meffan Museum or search for lighthouses at the Signal Tower Museum
Plus young adventurers will be able to enjoy a full week of outdoor adventure at Monikie Country Park including canoeing, paddleboarding and kayaking, with dry-side activities such as mountain biking, teambuilding, bush craft and survival skills. The return of the ever-popular Family Inclusive Bike sessions will also provide fun-for-all with tandems, trikes, hand bikes, recumbent, side by side, mountain, wheelchair and balance bikes.
Angus Council’s Communities Convener, Cllr Mark Salmond said: “We’re pleased Angus Council can support ANGUSalive with free swimming for all Angus children during the April school holidays. There are so many benefits to children and young people swimming – including building their confidence in the water and improving their swimming skills but most of all it’s fun! Funding for the sessions comes from our Holiday Food and Fun budget.”
ANGUSalive Holiday Activities are tailored to suit all abilities with ‘Give Unified Rugby a Try’ a new addition to the Disability and Inclusion offering. If someone requires that bit of extra support, a buddy can be arranged to assist with this at no extra charge.
