Award winning Dundee author Wendy H Jones has written many series including DI Shona McKenzie Mysteries, Cass Claymore Investigates, Fergus and Flora Mysteries, and Bertie the Buffalo Picture Book. Killer's Countdown was her first novel and the first book in the Shona McKenzie Mystery series. Killer's Crew won the Books Go Social Book of the Year 2017. The Dagger's Curse is the first book in The Fergus and Flora Mysteries for Young Adults, which was a finalist in the Woman Alive Magazine Readers Choice Award Book of the Year. She is also a highly successful marketer and she shares her methods in the book, Power Packed Book Marketing.
The podcast can be accessed from here and will be split into two parts, with the first part already live and the second part going live on the 1st July. In the podcast Wendy discusses wild buffalo in Fife and shares her best advice for aspiring writers, as well as discussing what writing has taught her and the questionable placement of Dundee sunrises. She also shares her recommended summer reads for ANGUSalive’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Wendy said about her work with ANGUSalive, “It was an absolute honour to be asked to champion both reading and libraries, both of which are passions of mine. Angus Libraries do so much to foster a love of reading for all age groups.”
The reading challenge is open to all children and adults at all reading abilities, with the theme for this year being ‘Reading Ahoy’, and will take place from 29 June - 16 August. This year participants can read their own books or download eBooks or eAudiobooks through ANGUSalive’s online library and the RBDigital app using their library card. To take part in the challenge, readers are asked to visit www.angusalive.scot/at-home for full details on how to take part in the challenge.
Adeline Kinsella, Cultural Team Lead for ANGUSalive said, “We are absolutely delighted to be working with the well-known and popular author Wendy H. Jones. It’s been great to find out more about her and get an insight into the background and inspiration of her books. It’s also fantastic to have her launch our Summer Reading Challenge, her writing covers all the aspects of the challenge having written adult crime books, teenage books and of course not forgetting Bertie the Buffalo Picture Book for youngsters. This wouldn’t have been possible without the funding from the Scottish Book Trust to whom we are very grateful.”
