Mountains of the Moon - An evening with Alan Rowan – The Midnight Mountaineer!
Thursday 30 May 2019 7.30-8.30pm
Join us at the Gateway to the Glens Museum for an evening talk by Alan Rowan, mountaineer, writer and author of fascinating books; Moonwalker: Adventures of a Midnight Mountaineer, A Mountain before Breakfast and Mountains of the Moon.
Alan is lives in Carnoustie and is a member of two local mountain clubs, he became known as the midnight mountaineer because much of his hillwalking took place after finishing work around midnight.
"For 15 years, from 1994 to 2009, I regularly climbed Scotland's mountains in the middle of the night, getting through the best part of two rounds of Munros and one round of Corbetts."
During the evening talk, titled Mountains of the Moon Alan will give an illustrated talk showing the incredible images of mountains beautifully lit by the moonlight or sunrises during his account of the midnight walks which he undertook during each of last year's 13 full moons, each mountain having a link to the particulate moon, e.g. Wolf Moon meant he was in the Corrie of the Wolf in Beinn Alligin.
