Glamis Castle to shine bright in colourful tribute to NHS and key workers

The treasured famous landmark Glamis Castle is set to be the centre of a spectacular light show this evening, Thursday 28th May, to show support and appreciation for everyone working on the frontline. The light show organised by ANGUSalive, with support from Visit Angus, will see the historic landmark illuminated in rainbow colours for the first time in a display of appreciation to the NHS and all frontline key workers.

Making History: Angus Archives seeking stories of lockdown life

ANGUSalive’s Angus Archives is calling for local residents to share stories of their lives in lockdown to preserve for future generations. The charity is asking the people of Angus to help contribute towards an accurate record of history which will help tell future generations about what they are going through; about how this pandemic is affecting their life, their family and their livelihood. Also to share reflections on what has impacted them the most – whether it be solidarity, a new reflection around family values, or a realignment of what is important.

ANGUSalive supports Mental Health Awareness Week

ANGUSalive is working closely with its partners, including NHS Tayside, Macmillan Cancer Support and Angus Health & Social Care Partnership to raise awareness and provide information on mental health and wellbeing during the coronavirus pandemic. The support ANGUSalive and its partners can offer is all encompassing and inclusive enabling all residents of Angus to access guidance, information and advice to help take care of their mind as well as their body. Brechin Cathedral to glow blue in support of NHS and frontline key workers

Brechin Cathedral will become a blue beacon above the town to show solidarity with the NHS and frontline key workers during the coronavirus pandemic. The building will be lit blue from Thursday 14th May to show support and appreciation for everyone working on the frontline. The Cathedral also has a special milestone this year as it celebrates its 800th Anniversary.

Balmashanner light show set to commemorate 75th Anniversary of VE Day

The iconic Balmashanner Statue in Forfar is set to be the centre of a lightshow to commemorate VE Day and as a sign of appreciation to all NHS and frontline key workers. The light show organised by ANGUSalive in partnership with Angus Council, and with support from various partners, will see the iconic monument located on Balmashanner Hill, known locally as “Bummie”, lit up to celebrate the important day on Thursday 7th May

Public urged to be caring and kind to Angus’ country parks

Whilst many visitors accessing the parks have been extremely supportive and helpful by very kindly refilling squirrel and bird feeders, and taking their rubbish and dog mess home, unfortunately not everyone has been so caring and kind to the parks.

The lockdown has led to an exceptional growth in the downloading of the libraries' RBdigital app as people discover the range of materials and resources available from home.

All 4 Fun Reading Challenge is a reading incentive created especially by ANGUSalive libraries to encourage children and adults to read more by promoting a number of the free services available which make reading even easier.
