The impact of the closure on charities - show your support

ANGUSalive is a charitable organisation and the majority of our income comes from members and customers. Every penny of profit we make is reinvested back into our services and activities for the local community and visitors to enjoy. Like many charitable trusts and businesses across the country, ANGUSalive has found the COVID-19 pandemic detrimental to our ability to operate and generate income.

Sadly, the coronavirus won’t be disappearing anytime soon and it will continue to present us with challenges in the weeks and months ahead.

We would like to thank members of the local community and customers who have made donations to us during this unprecedented time – please be assured, every donation big or small is helping future-proof our organisation.

 FAQs (service-wide)

  • What are your plans for reopening?

ANGUSalive, like many charitable trusts across the country, has found the COVID-19 pandemic detrimental to our ability to operate and generate income. The coronavirus won’t be disappearing anytime soon and it will continue to present us with challenges in the weeks and months ahead.

Therefore, it’s fundamental that we reopen our services gradually in a way that ensures the longevity and sustainability of the charity for the local community as well as the safety of our customers and colleagues.

A gradual approach to reopening is also being followed by other charitable trusts in Scotland in response to the current operating environment for culture, sport and leisure services which continues to be significantly impacted, amongst other things, by the current Protection Levels Framework restrictions, financial pressures and new sector guidance that needs to be implemented across our portfolio.

It’s important to highlight that we need to follow many safety requirements when reopening venues and our portfolio provides a very varied mix of building age, structure and layout. Many will have different requirements in terms of the capacity of people we can welcome back in line with social distancing rules, ventilation and staffing requirements.

You can view details of what we are opening and when under each service area above.

  • Why are some services not reopening until later than when the Scottish Government says they can?

Please refer to the answer given above under ‘What are your plans for reopening?’.

  • Why are your opening hours different compared to prior to lockdown?

The above response to our ‘reopening plans’ outlines some of the challenges we are up against including the current Protection Levels Framework restrictions, financial pressures and new sector guidance that needs to be implemented across our portfolio.

Also we need to follow many safety requirements when reopening venues and our portfolio provides a very varied mix of building age, structure and layout. Many will have different requirements in terms of the capacity of people we can welcome back in line with social distancing rules, ventilation and staffing requirements.

This may mean different operating hours until we get back to being able to allow similar capacity levels to pre-covid levels with further easing of restrictions, together with demand. However this is continually under review

  • When will you be reopening the rest of your venues/facilities?

You can view the latest details on the reopening of our services above and across our website.

  • Will creche facilities be available at your sports centres?

Over recent years we have seen an increase in private and public early years childcare provision offered to families in Angus. This is great news for families but has sadly had a negative impact on customer demand for our creche facilities. In addition, the COVID-19 restrictions over the past year have impacted on our creche service.

These factors have resulted in our decision to discontinue the serviceWe know this news will be disappointing for our customers and members who have used our creche facilities in the past.  However, we hope families will continue to enjoy our pre-school activities when they are relaunched in the coming weeks and months.

  • What health and safety procedures do you have in place?

You can view our Keeping Customer and Colleagues safe page on our website for details on this. You can also view our safety video here.

  • Will toilet and changing room facilities be available in reopened venues?

There are toilet facilities open in our venues.

Changing facilities are currently closed for dryside activities.  Swimming Pool changing rooms are open for customers to get dressed in when leaving the facilities.  Customers are still expected to arrive beach ready and get changed on poolside for swimming sessions.  There will be no provision of lockers.

  • Will I have to book to attend venues?

To use any of our Sports Centres you will need to book and pay in advance (if payment isn’t already included as part of membership) either online, via the ANGUSalive App or over the telephone

There is no requirement if using our libraries to book in advance.

  • What about your Theatre venues?

We haven’t yet received any detailed guidance on reopening our theatre venues. We’ll keep reviewing the latest government guidance in relation to these venues reopening and share news once confirmed. Meantime keep an eye on our What’s On page on our website and the Webster Memorial Theatre Facebook page for news on live streaming shows and outdoor concerts.
