Provider Accreditation Scheme for Sport (PASS)

Have you got your PASS?

Launching in November 2024, our Provider Accreditation Scheme for sport (PASS) is a simple, single-tier accreditation scheme which aims to quality-assure the governance and organisational practise of sports club and physical activity providers who are based or operating in Angus.

Our approach with PASS is to support as many organisations as we can to develop stronger, more effective governance, which allows them to be recognised as meeting the minimum standard of practise required to work with our key venues and partners in Angus.

Criteria?

1. You should be a club, physical activity provider or community organisation who incorporate sport & physical activity into your organisational delivery.

2. Your organisation should either be (i) based in or (ii) operating in Angus, inclusive of ANGUSalive, Angus Council (Including schools) + / or community-based venues.

3. You must be able to provide the mandatory documents during the application process. Missing documentation will prohibit your organisation from gaining accreditation status.

Key benefits for PASS members

  • Recognised as an accredited organisation for a 3-year period.
  • Access to our new, improved block-booking system (ANGUSalive venues only).
  • Opportunity to work in partnership with Angus Active Schools, subject to satisfactory coach PVG checks.
  • Access to free training spaces on selected courses run by ANGUSalive
  • Opportunity to gain day passes for our venues at a discounted price
  • Chance to book our BRAND NEW Elevate spaces in Carnoustie and Saltire venues.

Further support from the community sport team is available to all who gain accreditation, and we look forward to welcoming you into the PASS scheme soon.

The process of becoming accredited was easy to follow and there was support for anything unusual.

The scheme has assured members old and new, supporters and sponsors that we are meeting not just Scottish Rugby standards, but council standards as well.

We’d advise anyone who is interested in joining the scheme to give it a go. It helps with planning and club governance and allows others to know that the club is safe space to give the sport a go.

The registration process was clear, structured, and very well supported. The PASS team provided excellent guidance throughout, and the documentation was easy to follow. From start to finish, it felt like a constructive partnership rather than just a compliance exercise — which made the process both efficient and worthwhile.

Joining the PASS scheme has had a very positive impact on Brothock Shotokan Karate Club. It has helped strengthen our governance framework and provided added assurance to parents, carers, and our wider community that child wellbeing, safeguarding, and quality standards are central to everything we do. It has also supported the alignment of our Safety Management Framework and SKGB coaching pathway, giving our instructors and volunteers a stronger sense of consistency and pride in maintaining high professional standards.

We would strongly encourage any club or organisation to register with PASS. The process not only promotes best practice but also helps you reflect on how your policies and procedures work in real life. It’s a great way to demonstrate commitment to safe, inclusive sport and to build confidence among members, parents, and partner organisations.

Our overall experience has been excellent. The PASS team have been approachable, supportive, and understanding of how community clubs like ours operate. The scheme has been practical, relevant, and has genuinely helped us improve how we deliver karate across all age groups — from our Tiger Cubs and Karate Kids to our senior grades. We’re proud to display our PASS accreditation as a visible symbol of the club’s commitment to safe, high-quality coaching and continuous improvement.
