ANGUSalive Celebrates World Book Day with the launch of a Storybags Collection

Published: Thursday 1 March 2018

In celebration of World Book Day 2018, ANGUSalive is pleased to announce their latest initiative to encourage reading in early years.

The project was set up to support families with early reading especially young children who don't particularly enjoy reading or sharing books. The Storybag Collection has been created to bring a variety of family favourites to life with a carefully chosen puppet or soft toy including; Judith Kerr's The Tiger Who Came To Tea and Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo as well as newer titles such as Robot Rumpus (Ross Collins). The aim of the Storybag Collection is to enable the younger reader to engage with books differently and to stimulate their imagination and language development, hopefully encouraging a lifelong love of books.

Families in Angus are invited to pop in to their local library to discover the Storybag Collection and discover the enjoyment of reading.

Sylvia Main, Children and Families Development Officer, ANGUSalive, commented:

"We are excited to launch our fantastic Storybag Collection on World Book Day. The Storybag Collection aims to stimulate literacy development in fun and exciting ways and is available to all our customers from any ANGUSalive Library across Angus including our mobile libraries visiting our rural communities. We hope to welcome many families to experience reading books together to celebrate stories and love reading!"
